Man can not live on bread alone, but he should know that of every word that proceeds from the mouth of God he can receive and secure life with it. It does, however, matter not only to know and to take that Word (the Dvar Elohim), but it must also be acknowledged that it comes from the only true God, which everyone will have to honour and praise.

From the texts one will also be able to conclude that God has sent someone to bring salvation over mankind. By regularly reading or sharpening it, as it were, and regularly speaking of it, one will not only be able to form oneself, but also others, in the true faith and make them wise to salvation, through faith in Christ Jesus, with the realization that the whole Scripture is inspired by God and useful for teaching, for punishment, for improvement, for instruction in righteousness, that man may be perfect from God, to all good works.

“But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.” (Mt 4:4 AV)

“And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.” (Joh 17:3 AV)

“6 And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: 7 And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. {teach: Heb. whet, or, sharpen } (De 6:6-7 AV)

“15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. 16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works. {throughly … : or, perfected } (2Ti 3:15-17 AV)

“These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.” (Ac 17:11 AV)

“Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.” (Eph 5:17 AV)

The concept of God's Word is not limited to those who have received special training for this. Every person can, if he or she opens up to read God's Word, fully understand.

“At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes.” (Mt 11:25 AV)

“Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus.” (Ac 4:13 AV)

“But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.” (1Co 2:10 AV)

“Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.” (1Co 2:13 AV)

“And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.” (1Jo 5:20 AV)

“14   Now about the midst of the feast Jesus went up into the temple, and taught. 15  And the Jews marvelled, saying, How knoweth this man letters, having never learned? {letters: or, learning } (Joh 7:14-15 AV)

If something is not immediately understood, it is best to compare it with other scriptures. Events as fulfillment of prophecy show meaning.

“But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.” (2Ti 2:16 AV)

“14 Simeon hath declared how God at the first did visit the Gentiles, to take out of them a people for his name. 15 And to this agree the words of the prophets; as it is written,” (Ac 15:14-15 AV)

“A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas. And he left them, and departed.” (Mt 16:4 AV)

“39 But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas: 40 For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale’s belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.” (Mt 12:39-40 AV)

“Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.” (Mt 24:35 AV)

“One generation passeth away, and another generation cometh: but the earth abideth for ever.” (Ec 1:4 AV)

“Thus saith the LORD, The heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool: where is the house that ye build unto me? and where is the place of my rest?” (Isa 66:1 AV)
